Job summary

NG Bailey Facilities Services in Manchester city centre is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant, HVAC, and building services across several nearby commercial buildings, ensuring compliance with SFG20 standards and SLAs.

Qualifications

• Level 3 equivalent in mechanical discipline required.
• Experience servicing and repairing heating/cooling systems and water systems.
• Skills in small mechanical installations (valves, taps, etc.).
• Proficiency in M&E fault-finding.
• Knowledge/experience of BMS/Controls.
• Experience with PPMs for pumps, AHUs, FCUs, and more.
• Legionella qualification/experience.
• RAMS, risk assessments, permits understanding.
• Experience managing subcontractors.
• Familiarity with digital CAFM systems on smartphones or tablets.
• Unvented hot water qualification and IPAF desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant, HVAC equipment, and building services infrastructure.
• Ensure maintenance aligns with SFG20 standards and contractual SLAs/KPIs.
• Maintain plant rooms and service areas to a high standard of cleanliness.
• Follow method statements, risk assessments, and safety legislation to ensure compliance.
• Deliver excellent service by completing PPM tasks and reactive works within SLAs.
• Conduct operational activities in line with internal regulations and external legislation.
• Work independently and manage reactive works and small projects.
• Accurately complete documentation, logbooks, and compliance records.
• Identify defects, recommend remedial actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
