Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited's Mountsorrel Quarry is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance function across fixed and mobile plant. You will drive safety, reliability and performance, managing a skilled team and coordinating planned maintenance, breakdown support and continuous improvement initiatives.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, plus experience developing teams and driving cost-effective

Qualifications

• Prev experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or equivalent in heavy industrial/manufacturing environments
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Understanding of electrical systems
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement techniques
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a maintenance team, driving engagement and accountability
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes
• Manage breakdown response, defect management and root cause analysis
• Drive improvements in plant productivity, OEE and operational performance
• Oversee inspections, maintenance checks and statutory compliance
• Promote best practice in maintenance management and continuous improvement
• Control maintenance-related costs, including labour and overtime
• Resolve technical issues and support engineering projects
• Manage contractor relationships and service agreements
• Champion a strong health, safety and zero-harm culture across site

• Lead and develop a maintenance team, driving engagement and accountability
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM)programmes
• Manage breakdown response, defect management and root cause analysis
• Drive improvements in plant productivity, OEE and operational performance
• Oversee inspections, maintenancechecksand statutory compliance

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge ofmechanical,pneumaticand hydraulic systems
• Understanding of electrical systems
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Confidence challenging standards and holding teams accountable for quality and delivery
• Strong communicationand problem-solving skills
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement techniques
• IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications

Desirable

• HNC/HND,recognisedapprenticeship or BEng in a relevant engineering discipline
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA and Continuous Improvement methodologies
