Manchester Metropolitan University seeks an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee mechanical and HVAC maintenance across the campus estate. You will supervise maintenance engineers and external contractors, ensuring reactive, planned and preventative work is delivered safely and to a high standard.

You will support budgets, resources and compliance, participate in emergency rota duties and contribute to service improvement.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the delivery of mechanical and HVAC maintenance activities across the University estate. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager (Mechanical), you will supervise Mechanical Maintenance Engineers and external contractors, ensuring reactive, planned and preventative maintenance programmes are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will provide technical expertise, support the management of budgets and resources, assist with compliance and health and safety activities, and play a key role in maintaining operational service delivery across campus.

The role also includes supporting small works projects, contractor management, performance monitoring and contributing to the continuous improvement of maintenance services. Participation in the University's emergency call-out rota is required, with appropriate recompense provided.

You will:

• Have experience in mechanical building services, HVAC systems and maintenance operations.
• Be confident supervising maintenance teams and contractors in a safety-critical environment.
• Demonstrate strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Possess a sound understanding of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Hold relevant mechanical engineering qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Be committed to excellent customer service, continuous improvement and collaborative working.
