Job summary

Evolve Personnel is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter for a busy UK manufacturing site on a permanent night shift 4 on/4 off. You will join a skilled engineering team to maximise plant reliability, minimise downtime and support operational improvements.

Key duties include responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, reading drawings, and carrying out hydraulic/pneumatic maintenance. You will also assist with projects, repairs, TPM and mentoring apprentices.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical fitting or maintenance role.
• Good knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Welding, grinding and oxy-acetylene cutting skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns to maximise plant uptime.
• Diagnose faults/root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Carry out parts requisitions to maintain stock levels and reduce downtime.
• Assist with project work (new equipment installations and factory improvements).
• Repair, overhaul and refurbish components and equipment.
• Mentor and support apprentices.
• Support and complete TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
• Prepare reports and checklists.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join an established Manufacturing business. The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter (Night shift 4 on/4 off) will work as part of a busy and skilled Engineering team where you will ensure plant reliability, minimise downtime and support the business with any business operational improvements.

• 4 on/4 off shift pattern (Nights)

As the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter you will be required too :

Respond to breakdowns to maximise plant uptime

Diagnose any faults/root cause and implement corrective actions

Carry out parts requisitions to maintain stock levels and reduce downtime

Assist with project work (new equipment installations and factory improvements)

Requirements:

Mechanical Engineering Qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3)

Experienced in a mechanical fitting or maintenance role

Strong manufacturing/heavy industry experience
