Asphalt Plant Fitter

Cardiff | £43,000-£45,000 per annum | 5am-5pm (flexibility required) | Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work | Permanent

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of their client for a permanent Asphalt Plant Fitter based in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Plant Fitter from the asphalt, concrete, or cement industry who is seeking a rewarding and secure role with ongoing professional development.

Key Duties

• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on asphalt plant machinery, including mixers, conveyors, screens, and burners.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out mechanical repairs to minimise downtime.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure all equipment is safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Complete maintenance records, defect tracker sheets, and sign‑off documentation.
• Carry out basic fabrication and welding tasks as needed for repair and maintenance.
• Support site operations, including loading, unloading, and general maintenance assistance.

Requirements

• Experience working in an asphalt plant is preferred; however, candidates from concrete, cement, mortar, aggregates, or quarrying environments will be considered.
• Strong understanding of plant equipment maintenance and repair.
• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Plant Fitting (or equivalent experience).
• Familiarity with health and safety standards and working in compliance‑driven environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving and mechanical diagnostic skills.
• Clear communication and teamwork abilities.

• Competitive hourly rate of £17.95 per hour.
• Overtime paid at x1.5 (after 40 hours per week and all day Saturdays) and x2 (Sundays and bank holidays).
