Job summary

Comton Group in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to keep production equipment and site machinery operating safely and reliably. You will diagnose faults, perform planned and reactive maintenance, and support continuous improvement across a demanding manufacturing environment.

The role requires a mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship, strong fault-finding skills, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanically with apprenticeship or experience.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance within manufacturing/industrial settings.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Commitment to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and identifying root causes of equipment failures.
• Repairing, maintaining and improving production machinery and associated equipment.
• Supporting the installation, commissioning and modification of machinery.
• Responding quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Working closely with production and engineering colleagues to resolve maintenance issues.
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Supporting continuous improvement and maintenance projects across the site.
