Job summary

Holcim is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for our Croft site to oversee production equipment and drive reliability across block‑making machinery. You will implement preventative maintenance and lead maintenance improvements within a multi-shift team.

You should bring NVQ 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC in plant maintenance, plus welding and fabrication expertise. A proactive, safety‑driven mindset and good communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Completed mechanical qualification with certification (NVQ 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent).
• Proven welding, fabrication and machine shop skills.
• Experience diagnosing faults in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Proactive problem-solver with continuous improvement mindset.
• Clear communication across levels; safety-focused.
• Comfortable with basic IT to support site reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain plant equipment, including block‑making machinery, to meet production targets.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and rapidly diagnose faults to minimise downtime.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for cost, quality, and safety.
• Undertake metal fabrication and welding to repair equipment.
• Support daily operations and coach team members across departments.
• Promote a safety-first culture in line with Zero Harm commitments.
