Job summary

Coleg Gwent is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to uphold the safe and efficient operation of campus mechanical services across the college estate. You will contribute to student and staff wellbeing and sustainability goals, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The role includes DBS clearance and EWC registration, with optional Welsh language training and support for applicants submitting Welsh-language applications.

About the Role

As our Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be the backbone of our campus infrastructure. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of mechanical building services across the entire college estate.

From keeping the classrooms warm in the winter to ensuring the taps run clean, your work directly contributes to the wellbeing of our learners and staff, as well as the college’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

The ability to use the Welsh language at a basic level (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable.

Requirements & Compliance

• Safeguarding: Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and EWC registration (costs covered by the candidate).


• Qualifications: Lecturers must hold or be willing to achieve a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) within a set period.
