Job summary

Coleg Gwent is recruiting a Work Based Assessor to support engineering apprentices in Newport and surrounding areas. The role requires ensuring learners complete the work-based element of their qualification and managing a caseload that varies with level and content.

Desirable Welsh language skills are welcome, and applications in Welsh are treated equally to English submissions. A DBS check and EWC registration are required, with a teaching qualification to be obtained if not already held.

Qualifications

• Safeguarding: Enhanced DBS check and EWC registration.
• Lecturers must hold or be willing to achieve a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE).
• Welsh language ability is desirable or training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure apprentices achieve the work-based element of their qualification (NVQ at level 2/3 or higher).
• Manage an agreed caseload based on apprenticeship level, location and syllabus content.

We are recruiting for a Work Based Assessor to join our team. You will ensure apprentices achieve the work-based element of their qualification (typically an NVQ at level 2, 3 or higher). You will also be responsible for an agreed number of candidates (the caseload will depend on the apprenticeship level, geographic location and qualification content).

The ability to use the Welsh language at a basic level (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable.

Applications may be submitted in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English.

• Safeguarding: Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and EWC registration (costs covered by the candidate).
• Qualifications: Lecturers must hold or be willing to achieve a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) within a set period.
