Job summary

AmcoGiffen is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join the Regional M&E Team supporting Canal & Rivers Infrastructure maintenance. The role covers the Midlands region with travel to Gloucester and other sites as required, working on mechanical and electrical asset repairs on pumps, moving structures, and control systems.

You will join a two-person regional team, perform hands-on maintenance, produce method statements, and coordinate material orders, with driving license and experience in hydraulics

Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanical Fitter with UK driving licence.
• Experience with hydraulics, moving structures, bridges and water control.
• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical (or equivalent).
• SSSTS/SMSTS and confined space trained.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary electrical and mechanical projects.

• Supervision on maintenance projects across canals and river assets (overnight travel as needed).

Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Regional M&E Team - Canal & Rivers Infrastructure maintenance

Location

• Castle Donnington, Midlands, or
• Gloucester

(Midlands region and some travel further afield where necessary)

A fantastic opportunity to join an established, national engineering contractor as a Mechanical Fitter supporting a busy and fast paced Mechanical & Electrical engineering maintenance team. This position can offer longevity through its long term maintenance framework supporting one of our key clients

The Role

We require an enthusiastic and technically astute Mechanical Fitter based in the Midlands area and responsible for covering our regional framework maintenance projects. Our framework team are responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance to assets and infrastructure around the UK’s Canals and Rivers including associated Electrical and Mechanical asset repair such as switch gear, control panels, PLC and SCADA equipment, moving structures, pumps etc.

Joining the company as a Mechanical Fitter in the specialist Mechanical & Electrical framework team, you will undertake Electrical and Mechanical asset repair and maintenance as part of a two person regional team. Your responsibilities will likely include working with Hydraulics, moving structures, bridges, penstocks, and water control. There will also be involvement working on Electrically biased maintenance including SCADA, Fault Finding on PLC’s, HMI’s, Electrical Testing RCD, Earth Loop impedance, R1/R2 Loop tests, Human Machine Units, Solar Panels and charging stations, Ultrasonic/Shaft encoders, MMI’s, Start/Stop Level Instrumentation, 40/10MA Loops, Mitsubishi PLC’s and QR series.

The Role

• Supervision and working on small maintenance projects throughout the Canals & River Trust network of infrastructure and assets (working away will be required)
• Production of method statements
• Ordering/hire of materials and plant
• ‘Hands on’ Mechanical (and Electrical) repair and maintenance activities

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will be a qualified Mechanical Fitter and should be experienced with Hydraulics, moving structures, bridges, penstocks, and water control.

• Full U.K Driving License
• It would advantageous for candidates to have gained experienced in multi-disciplinary Electrical and Mechanical projects.
