Job summary

AmcoGiffen is seeking an Administrator – Estimating & Pre-Contract Team in Barnsley. You will support the Estimating team on national framework bids and regional tenders, coordinating tender activities across multiple projects with professionalism and efficiency.

The role involves drafting documents, handling tender portals, maintaining programme updates in MS Project, and producing regular reports. A construction-adjacent admin background is preferred.

  • Strong PC and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and confident communication skills (including telephone manner).
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid organisational and planning capabilities.
  • Confidence liaising with different stakeholders across teams.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively resolve issues.
  • Accurate reporting skills and familiarity with document formatting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.

Responsibilities

  • Draft letters, forms, and schedules using a wide range of software tools.
  • Manage internal administration, including stationery procurement.
  • Create organisational charts via Visio.
  • Update internal CVs for tender submissions.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers (issuing and chasing enquiries/quotes).
  • Handle phone enquiries from clients and supply chain partners.
  • Process and distribute received quotations to Estimators/Bid Managers.
  • Book in new tenders and Expressions of Interest (EOIs).
  • Use various client tendering portals.
  • Prepare and issue tender schedules to clarify submission requirements and team responsibilities.
  • Manage tender correspondence (email/portal) across all bidding stages.
  • Digitally file tender documentation in Workspace.
  • Book and handle contract documents.
  • Format and submit final tender responses.
  • Update weekly programmes using MS Project.
  • Produce monthly and ad-hoc reports.
  • Maintain departmental timesheets and holiday reports.

Location: Barnsley

Join a dynamic Estimating and Work Winning team supporting national framework bids and regional project tenders across multiple business regions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to support Pre-Contract team activities with professionalism and efficiency.

Projects include multi-disciplinary works delivered via standalone tenders and long-term framework agreements with strategic clients.

Current contracts include:
  • CP7 infrastructure schemes
  • Network Rail reactive/planned maintenance
  • Environment Agency
  • Frameworks involving bridge replacements/upgrades, railway station improvements, tunnel works, and heavy civils.
Role Overview

As Administrator within the Estimating team, you will play a key support role to internal colleagues and external partners. Responsibilities include:

Requirements

Ideal candidates will bring prior administrative experience from a construction-related environment and demonstrate:
