Job Summary
A time-served maintenance engineer with experience in a medium to heavy engineering environment. Responsibilities include preventative and reactive maintenance on various machinery and equipment. Continual improvement and RCA use to enhance equipment OEE are essential. Willingness to work overtime and varied shifts is required.
Key Objectives of the Role
- Ensure all PPM tasks are completed on time and to the required standards.
- Use RCA to identify root causes of failures and report corrective actions.
- Improve plant OEE by addressing issues swiftly and effectively, focusing on first-time fixes.
- Complete all departmental documentation punctually and accurately.
- Develop the PPM system for key plant items with the maintenance planner to improve plant performance.
- Perform proactive and reactive maintenance on various equipment.
- Respond rapidly to customer demands with quick diagnosis and effective solutions.
- Develop and recommend solutions to improve equipment availability.
- Adhere to safety rules and procedures, including risk assessments, method statements, and lock-out/tag-out protocols.
- Work with operational managers on incident reports to implement preventive solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of autonomous maintenance (TPM).
- Undertake any other duties reasonably requested.
The Applicant
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic engineering diagrams.
- Logical fault-finding skills.
- Experience with lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- High understanding of pneumatics.
- Experience with CNC machines, lathes, NDT processes, or forging.
- Basic fabrication skills.
- Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a medium to heavy factory environment.
- Ability to handle demanding situations.
Desirable
- ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- CNC fault-finding skills.
- Experience in the forging industry.
- 17th Edition wiring regulations.
- Welding and burning skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
