Job summary

TechNichols Resourcing Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter for a temp-to-perm role at a large manufacturing site. Hours are 6:00am–6:00pm, on a 4-on 4-off permanent days pattern, with the current contract lasting 4–6 months before going permanent.

The role involves maintaining and improving a wide range of production machinery, performing planned preventative maintenance, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and supporting shutdowns and improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship or NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or above.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing settings.
  • Experience with belts, chains, bearings, pumps, seals, motors, gears, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • MIG or Arc welding and fabrication experience desirable.
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

  • This is a temp-to-perm role, working permanent day shifts from 6:00am to 6:00pm on a 4 on 4 off pattern.

  • Responding to machinery breakdowns and production line issues.

  • Identifying recurring equipment problems and helping to develop long-term solutions.
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement activities throughout the factory.
  • Accurately recording maintenance work and contributing to CMMS updates.

Job description

Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter (Temp to Perm)

Hours: 6:00am to 6:00pm, 4 on 4 off – Permanent Days

Salary: £49,000 to £57,000 per annum

Location: Commutable from Faversham, Rainham, Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester, Canterbury and surrounding areas

This position will initially start on a 4–6 month contract, with the intention of becoming permanent thereafter.

An established manufacturing company operating from a new, state-of-the-art factory is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join its successful maintenance team.

Suitable candidates will ideally have completed a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or hold a relevant mechanical qualification. You should have experience with some of the following: bearings, motors, pumps, gears, belts, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabrication.

Previous maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing experience gained within an industrial, production or manufacturing environment would be highly beneficial.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Have completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or hold a Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as an NVQ or City & Guilds at Level 3 or above.
  • Experience within mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing, ideally gained in an industrial, production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with some of the following: belts, chains, bearings, pumps, seals, motors, gears, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • MIG or Arc welding and fabrication experience would be desirable.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and drive-chain systems would be highly beneficial.
  • The ability to think practically and find effective solutions to mechanical problems.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and contributing to PPM, Continuous Improvement and machinery reliability activities.
