Syntech Recruitment Ltd is representing a leading aerospace manufacturer near Uxbridge seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join the inspection team. The role focuses on inspecting and testing components, verifying conformity to drawings and documentation, and maintaining accurate records.

You will use measurement tools, SAP, and ensure equipment calibration, with opportunities for development and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5-year consistent work history and BPSS clearance is required.
• Experience inspecting components in manufacturing or engineering.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings using GD&T.
• Skilled with inspection tools and measurement equipment.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Inspector

Location: Near Uxbridge

Salary: Up to £36,500+ overtime at 1.5x available daily (£18.90ph, OT @ £28.35ph)

Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00–17:00, Friday 8:00–12:00 (early finish)

Type: Permanent, full-time

We’re working with a leading aerospace manufacturer that designs and builds critical safety systems used across the world’s most advanced aircraft. They’re now looking for a Mechanical Inspector to join their inspection team at their facility near Uxbridge.

Mechanical Inspector Responsibilities

• Carry out inspection and testing of components using a range of measurement tools and techniques.
• Verify products against engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Generate and maintain accurate inspection documentation.
• Use SAP to record work in progress, track batches, and log non-conformances.
• Ensure all inspection equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained.
• Contribute to 5S and continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
• Handle and store components carefully to prevent damage and ensure traceability.
• Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and quality standards.

Mechanical Inspector Profile

• Previous mechanical inspection experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Confident in reading and interpreting engineering drawings using GD&T.
• Skilled in the use of inspection tools and measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, verniers, gauges).
• Strong numeracy, geometry, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Basic knowledge of Health & Safety procedures.
• Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office and SAP).
• Experience with CMMs or AS9102 FAIRs would be advantageous.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English; an engineering apprenticeship is preferred.
