Job summary

A leading engineering firm based in Dunfermline is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to perform inspections on behalf of clients in the UK. This role requires a strong understanding of umbilicals and electrical systems, along with relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in offshore environments and the ability to prepare detailed inspection reports. Engagement will be on a freelance basis, with opportunities for ad hoc activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as an Offshore Inspector.
• Experience in offshore or subsea environments preferred.
• Ability to conduct inspections at vendor premises.
• Experience in offshore or subsea environments preferred.
• At least 3 years as an Offshore Inspector; ability to inspect at vendor premises and on client projects.
• Ability to prepare daily/weekly inspection reports.
• Adequate English for reporting and communicating with clients.
• Freelancer or inspector agency must be able to invoice the service.

RINA is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to perform inspection activities on behalf of RINA for our esteemed clients in the UK.

Requested

• The inspector must have experience inspecting umbilicals, electrical cables, and offshore equipment.
• Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., API 17E) and project specifications is required.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems is essential.
• Experience in offshore or subsea environments is preferred.
• Mechanical Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering) or relevant high‑school background; certificates such as NDT, welding, coating, etc.
• At least 3 years as an Offshore Inspector; ability to conduct inspections at vendor premises and on client or third‑party projects.
• Ability to prepare daily/weekly inspection reports.
• Adequate level of English for reporting, understanding international standards/codes, and communicating with clients.
• Freelancer or inspector agency must be able to invoice the service.
