Job summary

Oceaneering in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Inspection Engineer to perform thorough inspections of onshore and offshore assets, including pipelines and vessels, to uphold safety and reliability in the oil and gas industry.

You will identify risks, prepare reports, and collaborate with engineering teams while utilizing advanced inspection technologies and NDT methods. Training junior inspectors and staying current with industry standards are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

  • BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or working towards.
  • Minimum of five years in oil and gas with an inspections focus.
  • EEMUA 159 certification.
  • API 510/570/653, ASME VIII D1, ASME II, ASME B31.3/31.4/31.8, and ASME Level 1 or 2 Plant Inspector certifications.
  • Knowledge of Risk-Based Analysis (API RP580/581/579), Degradation Mechanisms, Corrosion Engineering, and Corrosion Mitigation.
  • NDT qualifications to Level 2, UT 3.1 & UT 3.2; willingness to advance in NDT qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintenance recommendations.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection activities.

Job Overview

As an Inspection Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections and assessments of our clients’ onshore and offshore assets, including pipelines, vessels, tankage and pressure equipment. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability in the oil and gas industry, and you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a significant impact on operations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth inspections and assessments of onshore and offshore equipment and infrastructure.
  • Identify potential risks and hazards, and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and provide recommendations for maintenance and repair.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Utilize advanced inspection techniques and technologies to detect and analyze defects.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) as required, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection activities.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior inspectors, ensuring knowledge transfer.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in inspection and maintenance.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel involved in inspection activities.
Qualifications
  • BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or working towards a similar qualification.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on inspections.
  • EEMUA 159 certification.
  • One or several of the following: API 510, API 570, API 653, ASME VIII D1, ASME II, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4 & 31.8, and ASME Level 1 or Level 2 Plant Inspector certifications.
  • Working knowledge of Risk‑Based Analysis (API RP580/581/579), Degradation Mechanisms, Corrosion Engineering, and Corrosion Mitigation.
  • Standard NDT qualifications to Level 2, with a minimum of UT 3.1 & 3.2.
  • Willingness to work toward Advanced NDT qualifications as determined by management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness to undergo further training and development to stay updated with industry advancements.
