JAM Recruitment Ltd in Castleford is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician for a full-time role. You will work mainly in a workshop, dismantling, inspecting and rebuilding industrial pumps to meet specifications, with occasional site travel for servicing and maintenance.

The position requires reading engineering drawings, measuring components, carrying out basic electrical checks and thorough pump testing before returning to clients. A UK driving licence is desirable.

Qualifications

• Mechanical fitting or engineering experience (apprenticeship or time served preferred).
• Experience working on pumps, motors or other rotating machinery is ideal.
• Ability to read engineering drawings with accuracy.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Hands-on, practical approach and ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Take pumps apart to inspect for damage or wear.
• Clean and refurbish pumps.
• Rebuild pumps using new or repaired parts.
• Read engineering drawings to identify correct components.
• Measure parts to ensure they meet specifications.
• Carry out basic electrical checks on pumps.
• Test pumps to ensure proper operation.
• Repair and maintain diesel-powered pump units.
• Assist with deliveries and collections when needed.
• Travel to customer sites with the service team for maintenance.
• Complete inspection reports and paperwork accurately.

Based in Castleford, this full-time Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician role offers a salary of £35,000 per annum plus overtime. Working 37.5 hours weekly, you will primarily operate within a workshop, dismantling, inspecting, and rebuilding industrial pumps to ensure they meet specifications. Your duties will involve reading engineering drawings, measuring components, and performing basic electrical checks. You will also test pumps thoroughly before return to clients. Occasional travel to customer sites is required for servicing and planned maintenance. This position suits a hands-on individual with strong mechanical skills who takes pride in precise, quality workmanship.
