Job summary

Rubix is seeking a motivated engineer to join the Middlesbrough fabrication team. The role involves disassembly and re-assembly of industrial rotating equipment, plus planned and predictive maintenance on site and in workshops.

You will assess spare parts needs, plan workloads, and ensure accurate documentation and housekeeping are maintained to high standards. Ideal candidates will have a time-served apprenticeship in rotational disciplines, an ONC/HNC or equivalent, and a UK driving license.

Qualifications

  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent in a rotational discipline.
  • Knowledge of industrial gearboxes and pumps is essential.
  • Multi-skilled in basic electrical practices.
  • Valid UK driving license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembly and accurate re-assembly of industrial rotating equipment.
  • Performing planned and predictive maintenance.
  • Assessing need for spare parts.
  • Effective planning and prioritisation of workload.
  • Site work on customer premises and workshop experience preferred.
  • Identify faulty components and support reclamation options.
  • Complete timely documentation and records per business requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping to required standards.

The Role Permanent Full Time Deritend part of the Rubix Group of Companies was founded in 1898 and serves more than 3,500 customers in the UK and boasts a blue-chip client base that includes some of the largest manufacturers and best-known brands in the world. We specialise in optimising asset performance, including motors, gear boxes, pumps, machining, condition monitoring and fabrication services.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join us and further strengthen our fabrication team within our Deritend Middlesbrough facility.

Key Responsibilities Main Tasks and Deliverables
  • Disassembly and accurate re-assembly of industrial rotating equipment.
  • Performing planned and predictive maintenance.
  • Assessing need for spare parts.
  • Undertake effective planning and prioritisation of workload wherever necessary.
  • You will be used to working on site in addition to the workshop when required (Site working experience is a distinct advantage and suitable qualifications such as CCNSG passport is preferable).
  • You will be happy working with a team as well as working on your own initiative.
  • Have strong mechanical engineering knowledge to identify and rectify faulty and worn/damaged components and understand reclamation techniques and reverse engineering options.
  • Ensure that resources are used to optimum effect.
  • Understand and operate in line with relevant legislation, Company policy and Company procedures.
  • Complete and maintain accurate, timely documentation and records as required by the business.
  • Maintain the required standards of housekeeping.
  • Support other teams and functions as required by the business.
  • Undertake self-development activities as required by the business.
  • Undertake any other tasks or duties as required by your line manager.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices operated by the Company.
  • Liaise with Coordinator to establish requirements.
  • Conforming to health and safety procedures and policies.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent in a Rotational discipline.
  • ONC/HNC or equivalent, preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Gearboxes and Pumps, multi skilled in basic Electrical Practices.
  • UK driving license.
