We currently have an opportunity available for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team working in Bournemouth. You will join us on a full-time, 12 months fixed term basis, and in return, you will receive a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum plus benefits.

About the role:

You will fault find, repair and maintain South West Water assets across a range of company sites, predominantly water treatment works and pumping stations. You will also help ensure maximum asset availability and support the SWW Pure vision by assisting in minimising risk to compliance, quality requirements and health & safety.


What you’ll be doing:
  • Working on fixed plant on Water Treatment sites to fault find, repair and maintain a wide variety of equipment including pumps, gearboxes and specialist treatment process machinery
  • Working on mobile plant repairing and servicing dumpers, diggers, loading shovels and specialist Filter Plant.
  • Manufacture and fabricate parts and equipment
  • Work with other disciplines in a workshop/mobile team
  • Follow the business and departmental rules associated with workflow and management
  • Working in a manner that keeps you and those around you safe
  • Asset repair and maintenance as scheduled by your manager
  • Undertaking any training required in order to carry out work activities in a safe or legal manner
  • Carrying out work activities as scheduled by your manager
  • Assisting operational staff with the resolution of complex problems
  • Providing accurate and timely feedback of activities completed
  • Having a good understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities in a workplace
  • Working with or in close proximity to chemicals in accordance with COSHH, QMS Procedures and relevant Health and Safety standards
  • Instructing & assisting in the development of trainees/apprentices

  • A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
  • Experience of working in a mechanical or engineering role
  • Ability to deliver an effective maintenance service in both workshop and site environments
