Job summary

Berry Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a site-based role in Knaresborough. The contract is initially 3 months with a view to extension or permanency. Start ASAP, with a 40-hour week and mixed shifts.

You will read mechanical drawings, fault-find and repair mechanical assets, perform PPM and reactive maintenance, and assist with outages. Safety and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Time served mechanical fitter with relevant qualifications.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work and permits to work.

Responsibilities

• Rectify problems on mechanical assets such as conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, valves and cranes.
• Carry out fabrication work and general workshop duties.
• Be responsible for PPM and Reactive maintenance work, ensuring high standards.
• Assist with planned outages.
• Operate workshop machinery, fabrication, refurbishment.
• Communicate problems promptly through line management for quick resolution.
• Assist in delivering Maintenance Team KPIs.

Job description

We are currently looking for experienced Mechanical Fitter in the Knaresborough area.

• Contract - Initial 3 months with possibility to be extended or gone permanent.
• Start - ASAP - will wait if there is a notice period
• 32 Days annual leave for the year (prorated if contract less than 12 months)
• Pay 25 an hour PAYE - Weekly Pay
• Location - Knaresborough

The working hours for this role are as follows:

• Week 1: 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday
• Week 2: 10pm - 6am Monday - Friday

Key responsibilities

• Rectify problems on mechanical assets such as conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, valves and cranes
• Carry out Fabrication work and general workshop duties.
• Be responsible for PPM and Reactive maintenance work, ensuring the highest standards are set and maintained.
• Assist with and actively participate in planned outages.
• Operate Workshop machinery, fabrication, and refurbishment.
• Communicate problems and concerns promptly through line management ensuring quick resolution.
• Assist in delivering Maintenance Team KPIs.

Experience

• Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings/ documents.
• Experience/knowledge of safe systems of work including permit to work, method statements and risk assessments.
• Ability to carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks.
• Ability fault-find and repair mechanical assets.
• Good communication.
• Experience writing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
