Job description

My client is a leading FMCG manufacturing organization with a strong reputation and ongoing growth due to innovative developments and investments, including new state-of-the-art manufacturing assets.

They are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their site on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will support the engineering team in achieving higher standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment according to the PPM schedule, maintaining high standards.
2. Collaborate with the mechanical/electrical team to ensure plant availability aligns with operational commitments.
3. Assist in machine improvement projects.
4. Monitor, fault-find, maintain, and repair equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, and specialist treatment machinery.
5. Apply first-level maintenance activities to onsite assets.
6. Conduct large plant complex repairs.
7. Work in confined spaces and with breathing apparatus if required (training provided).
8. Develop new skills within and outside your core discipline.
9. Maintain and repair fixed plant on Water and Waste Water Treatment sites.
10. Collaborate with other disciplines in a workshop environment.
11. Follow business and departmental rules related to workflow and management.
12. Maintain health and safety standards to ensure safety for yourself and colleagues.
13. Use the computerized maintenance management system to organize workload and work orders.

Education & Experience:

• Hold City & Guilds or similar vocational qualifications, with completed apprenticeship or recognized training in mechanical discipline.
• Relevant experience in production, processing, or manufacturing facilities is beneficial.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Demonstrate excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to follow and respond to directions.

This position is Monday to Friday during dayshift hours, with an on-call rota.
