Job summary

Engineering Connect are seeking a Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician to join a well-established engineering manufacturer in the Blackburn area. This hands-on role focuses on hydraulic cylinders, assembly from engineering drawings, testing, and fault-finding to ensure quality.

You will read drawings, set up hydraulic test equipment, and work Monday to Thursday 7:00am–5:00pm with Fridays off. Overtime is available and a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical assembly and fitting experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with hydraulics is advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work accurately and to high standards.
• Hydraulic cylinder experience is advantageous.
• Hydraulic testing experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assemble hydraulic cylinders from drawings and specifications.
• Check measurements and tolerances during assembly.
• Fault find, diagnose problems and carry out repairs.
• Pressure test hydraulic cylinders to check for leaks and operation.
• Set up and operate hydraulic test equipment.

Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (4-day working week)

Salary: Competitive / dependent on experience

Engineering Connect are recruiting for a Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician to join a well-established engineering manufacturer based in the Blackburn area.

This is a hands-on engineering position suited to someone with experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, hydraulics or a similar mechanical engineering environment.

The Role:

• Assembly of hydraulic cylinders from engineering drawings and specifications
• Checking measurements and tolerances during assembly
• Fault finding, diagnosing problems and carrying out repairs
• Pressure testing hydraulic cylinders to check for leaks and correct operation
• Setting up and operating hydraulic test equipment
• Ensuring finished products meet the required quality standards
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

The Person:

• Previous mechanical assembly, fitting or hydraulic experience
• Strong mechanical background and hands‑on ability
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings
• Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
• Able to work accurately and to high standards
• Hydraulic cylinder experience would be highly advantageous
• Hydraulic testing experience would be advantageous but is not essential

Hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:00pm, giving you a 4-day working week with every Friday off. There is also overtime available payable at an enhanced rate and a salary banded system.
