Yorkshire Water is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to perform both planned and reactive maintenance on their water and wastewater treatment assets. This permanent position involves mobile working across the West Yorkshire region, offering a salary of £40,110 and various benefits including an annual incentive related bonus and a strong pension scheme.

Mechanical Fitter role within the maintenance department of Bioresource West, covering Huddersfield, Halifax and Brighouse. Permanent position, 37 hours per week with out-of-hours, weekend and bank holiday working on a structured stand‑by rota. The role involves mobile working across the West Yorkshire region, with home location determining service area.
• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance on Yorkshire Water’s electrical and mechanical assets across water and wastewater treatment and pumping installations.
• Work unsupervised in remote geographic locations, completing tasks within agreed timescales, quality and cost parameters.
• Manage and prioritise own workload, build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and contract partners.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policy, actively identify hazards, provide mitigation, and report to the company hazard database.
• Supervise approved contract partners, conduct risk assessments and prepare method statements where permit to work is required.
• Use Toughbook and/or iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes.
• Assist in the development and training of apprentices and less‑experienced team members.
• Install and commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards; diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant.
• Pro‑actively identify and report follow‑on work or areas for enhancement, produce procurement specifications and maintain equipment in accordance with PSSR.
• Work within confined spaces and pass strict medical criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, Spirometry).
