Job summary

Tru Talent seeks an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a hands-on workshop team in Trafford Park, Manchester. You will install insulated panels on vehicle bodies, perform electrical terminations, seal joints, and cut materials.

Training is provided and a permanent, full-time role is offered with strong team support. Candidates should have proven experience in mechanical fitting or vehicle bodybuilding, read engineering drawings, and work safely with workshop tools.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Vehicle Bodybuilder or Assembly Technician in a workshop/manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Works safely with tools and workshop equipment.
• Pride in producing high quality work.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to meet targets and quality standards.
• Read drawings and work from orders as a Mechanical Fitter.
• Install insulated panels onto commercial vehicle bodies.
• Carry out electrical terminations including lighting, switches and tail lifts.
• Seal joints, floors and roofs using silicone and gel coatings.
• Cut metals, woods and plastics with hand tools and bench equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping and follow health and safety procedures.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Mechanical Fitter / Vehicle Bodybuilder / Assembly Technician you will be responsible for:

• Working independently using your own initiative to meet targets and quality standards
• Reading engineering drawings and working effectively from work orders as an experienced Mechanical Fitter
• Installing insulated panels onto commercial vehicle bodies
• Carrying out electrical terminations including lighting, switches and tail lifts
• Sealing joints, floors and roofs using silicone and gel coatings
• Cutting metals, woods and plastics using hand tools and bench equipment
• Using hand tools, bench saws and measurement equipment safely as a Vehicle Bodybuilder
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across all work areas
• Working in line with all health and safety, quality and compliance procedures

What You Will Need

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Vehicle Bodybuilder or Assembly Technician within a workshop or manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
• Ability to work safely using tools and workshop equipment
• Positive attitude and pride in producing high quality work
• Reliable transport or ability to travel to the Trafford Park site
• Experience within vehicle bodybuilding or commercial vehicle assembly (desirable)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (desirable)
