Job description

Business:

The ReFood AD plants operate as integrated recycling units, processing a variety of food wastes to produce biogas, renewable electricity, heat, and ReGrow (a nutrient-rich fertiliser for local farms). The plants also recycle food waste packaging, providing an environmentally sustainable solution for all waste producers seeking to divert food waste from landfills.

The Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Mechanical Fitter to join ReFood's Anaerobic Digestion facility in Doncaster. This full-time, permanent role involves working 12-hour shifts on a 4 on, 4 off basis (days only). The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, adaptable, and committed to environmental conservation.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining plant and machinery daily
• Conducting risk assessments before tasks
• Performing planned preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves
• Operating Depac equipment as required
• Responding to and fixing alarms on SCADA systems
• Completing reactive tasks, readings, and check sheets
• Assisting contractors and maintaining site housekeeping
• Logging all activities accurately
• Adhering to health and safety regulations and attending relevant training
• Installing and maintaining equipment to minimize production disruptions
• Supporting ad hoc projects and other departments as needed

The Person

• Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in engineering, preferably in the AD industry
• Team player with a proactive attitude
• Knowledge of isolation systems and LOTO procedures
• Dual skilled in mechanical and electrical work is advantageous
• Experience with various pumps (centrifugal, lobe, diaphragm, screw)
• Competence in replacing shafts, seals, bearings, pipework, and fittings
• Confidence in valve replacement and basic pneumatics
• Comfortable working at heights
