Job summary

Ford & Stanley Talent Services Group Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Fitter in Burton upon Trent for a six-month contract. The role focuses on servicing, overhauls and mechanical repairs on rail vehicles.

You will work within a skilled team to deliver high‑quality mechanical work safely, efficiently and in line with engineering specifications.

Mechanical Fitter

Salary: £17.00ph PAYE raising to £18.79ph PAYE

Contract: 6-month contract

Shifts: Monday to Thursday 07:00 – 16:00 Friday 07:00 - 13:00

Location: Burton upon Trent

The Role

We are currently seeking Mechanical Fitter's to join a team at Barton under Needwood. This is a hands‑on role focused on carrying out servicing, overhauls and associated mechanical repairs on rail vehicles.

You will work as part of a skilled team, delivering high‑quality mechanical work safely, efficiently and in line with engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mandatory servicing and mechanical repairs on rail vehicle systems and components.
• Understand and work effectively with vehicle mechanical interfaces.
• Install, maintain and repair hydraulic systems.
• Carry out fault finding and diagnostic investigations to identify and rectify defects.

Essential

• Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance or overhaul environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component repair.

Desirable

• Previous experience within the rail, automotive, plant or transferable heavy engineering industry.
• Experience working on large sub‑assembly overhaul activities.
