Job summary

Interaction Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Field Service Engineer to install, commission and maintain machinery across Devon and Cornwall. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and carry out planned and reactive maintenance in food manufacturing environments while working directly with customers on site.

The role requires a strong mechanical background, independent work style, and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Field Service Engineer or similar.
• Experience with machinery in manufacturing or food manufacturing environments.
• Strong fault-finding and repair skills on mechanical equipment.
• Experience with installation and maintenance of machinery.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Willingness to travel across Devon and Cornwall.
• Level 2 Food Safety / Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to complete training.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join our team as a Field Service Engineer, covering Devon and Cornwall.

The Role

• Installing and commissioning machinery and equipment
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Planned and reactive maintenance
• Servicing and maintaining manufacturing machinery
• Working within food manufacturing environments
• Working directly with customers on site
• Ensuring machinery is operating safely and efficiently

Food Safety Requirement

As the role involves working inside food manufacturing facilities, candidates will need to hold a Level 2 Food Safety / Food Hygiene Certificate.

Don't have one? No problem — full training will be provided. The course is approximately 3 hours and will be provided to ensure you are fully qualified to work safely within food production environments.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Field Service Engineer or similar
• Experience working with machinery in a manufacturing, production or food manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
• Experience with machinery installation and maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Own tools required
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel throughout Devon and Cornwall
• Level 2 Food Safety/Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to complete the training provided
