Mechanical Estimator – Manchester – Covering North West
£45,000 - £50,000 + Car + Mileage paid

About the Company:
We are working in partnership with an award-winning Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor that delivers high-quality projects across commercial sectors. Due to continued growth and a healthy pipeline of upcoming work, they are looking to add an experienced and motivated Mechanical Estimator to their team.

The Role:
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical elements of building services projects. You’ll work closely with the pre-construction, design, and commercial teams to ensure that all tenders are thoroughly reviewed, costed, and submitted on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for a range of M&E projects.
  2. Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to assess scope and risks.
  3. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  4. Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.
  5. Support the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team.
  6. Collaborate with electrical estimating and commercial departments.
  7. Assist in value engineering exercises and cost-saving proposals.

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating within the M&E or building services sector.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, heating, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Ensign, Estimation) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
