Job summary

ARC Group in Cambridge is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding pre-construction team. You will produce accurate and competitive tenders for a range of Mechanical Building Services projects, from analysing drawings and specifications to supplier engagement, pricing and tender submissions.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience within a Mechanical Estimator role.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical Building Services.
• Experience pricing projects within the M&E or Building Services sector.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
• Complete mechanical take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare detailed cost comparison schedules to support tender adjudications.
• Raise technical queries and RFIs throughout the tender period.
• Assist with design development to ensure compliant tender submissions.
• Produce value engineering options and alternative cost proposals.
• Present tender information to senior management during adjudication meetings.
• Support the smooth handover of successful tenders to project delivery teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and clients.

ARC is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and highly regarded Building Services contractor to recruit an Intermediate Mechanical Estimator for their expanding Cambridge office.

The Role

As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, producing accurate and competitive tenders for a wide range of Mechanical Building Services projects. Working alongside experienced estimators and senior management, you'll be involved throughout the tender process, from analysing drawings and specifications through to supplier engagement, pricing and tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret tender documentation, drawings and specifications.

About You

We are looking for someone with a solid foundation in Mechanical Estimating who is looking to develop their career with an established contractor.

Ideally, you'll have:

• At least 2 years' experience within a Mechanical Estimator role.
• A good understanding of Mechanical Building Services.
• Experience pricing projects within the M&E or Building Services sector.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tender deadlines.
• A proactive and organised approach to your work.
• Strong team-working skills alongside the ability to work independently.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
