Job summary

Phillips 66 Humber Refinery in the UK is offering a one-year industrial placement for Mechanical Engineering students starting summer 2027. You will work on projects with senior engineers and gain practical experience in a dynamic refinery environment.

Successful candidates may be considered for a graduate position on completion of their degree. The placement supports IMechE Chartered Status via the MPDS scheme, with mentoring and structured professional development.

Qualifications

• Motivated engineering student with an interest in Mechanical Engineering in energy.
• Working towards a 2:1 Mechanical Engineering degree (recent grads considered).
• Good engineering/technical knowledge.
• Experience from industrial placements, internships or work experience.
• Strong communication, teamwork, safety awareness and self-organization.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects with experienced Mechanical Engineers during placement.
• Potential path to a graduate position after degree.
• Support IMechE Chartered Status via MPDS with mentor guidance on documentation.
• Exposure to maintenance project work and equipment knowledge across refinery roles.
