Job summary

London Borough Council is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a six-strong team delivering mechanical maintenance, compliance and projects across a portfolio of around 250 corporate and leisure buildings.

Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, you will uphold technical standards, manage contracts and contractors, drive performance, and ensure projects are on time, within budget and meet required standards across a varied estate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in construction and building services, covering full mechanical services.
• Experience leading engineering teams across corporate/commercial portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical compliance and Legionella management.

Responsibilities

• Lead a six-strong team delivering statutory compliance, planned maintenance and day-to-day repairs.
• Oversee annual programme of 40–60 small works projects with a combined value of £3–4 million.
• Provide expert mechanical engineering guidance and resolve technical issues across buildings.
• Manage contracts and contractors to meet standards, budgets and timescales.
• Set priorities and allocate resources across maintenance, compliance and project delivery.
