Job summary

Thomas Thor is seeking an experienced Head of Systems Engineering (Mechanical, Process) to lead the Systems Engineering capability for safety-critical projects in regulated industries across nuclear. You will provide expert technical guidance across process, mechanical and systems engineering, drive integration and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Chartered professional in an appropriate engineering discipline.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
• Design experience of MEP systems including pipework, HVAC, compressed air systems in regulated industries.
• Experience managing complex technical requirements across project lifecycles in multi-disciplinary supply chains.
• Strong knowledge of UK nuclear regulatory requirements.
• Lifecycle delivery including commissioning and obsolescence considerations.
• Budget-aware leadership with programme delivery experience.
• Proven track record in leading technical teams.
• Experience defining and managing technical requirements.
• Excellent relationship, interpersonal and communication skills.

Head of Systems Engineering (Mechanical, Process)

Our client is a specialist engineering consultancy driving the successful delivery of complex, safety-critical projects across the nuclear through expert technical integration, engineering excellence and end-to-end project lifecycle support.

We are seeking an experienced Head of Systems Engineering to join the leadership team and develop the Systems Engineering capability. You will provide expert technical advice across process, mechanical and systems engineering, driving technical integration, engineering excellence and the delivery of complex multidisciplinary projects. Responsibilities include overseeing engineering delivery and requirements management, developing the team, managing key client and supplier relationships, and supporting business growth and strategy.

Required Experience and Skills:

• Chartered Professional of an appropriate membership.
• Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Design experience of MEP systems including pipework, HVAC, compressed air systems in highly regulated industries.
• Demonstrable experience of managing complex technical requirements across a project lifecycle with views on how this can be proportionately managed for multi-disciplinary projects across several layers of the supply chain.
• Strong appreciation and application of UK nuclear regulatory requirements.
• Deep understanding of full life cycle engineering delivery with direct commissioning and lifecycle management (including ageing and obsolescence) experience beneficial.
• Commercially astute engineering leader with a strong appreciation of budgetary management and programme delivery.
• Demonstrable experience in managing technical teams.
• Significant experience in defining, capturing and managing technical requirements.
• Strong relationship management, interpersonal, presentation, people management and communication skills.
