Job summary

Honeywell in Luton seeks a Mechanical Engineering Leader to accelerate NPI within the mechanical/metering function. You will lead electro-mechanical product development, collaborate across engineering teams, and oversee technical strategy with hands-on leadership in a fast-paced environment.

The role is hybrid (3+2 day model) and reports to the Engineering Director. A degree in mechanical subjects and strong project leadership are required for success.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced electro-mechanical R&D design and validation.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical products and project leadership.
• 3D & 2D CAD capability and mechanical engineering material selection.
• Design for manufacture and cost reduction; value engineering and root cause analysis.
• Product approvals and validation; engineering admin (ECN, docs)

Responsibilities

• Focus on mechanical/metering function in Luton, collaborating with wider product development.
• Manage mechanical/metering activities based on priorities; create product/work package specs.
• Work with lead mechanical engineer; ensure activities meet specifications; drive execution.
• Forecast progress, risks and costs; provide engineering leadership and hands-on solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement; coordinate with cross-functional partners and 3rd parties.

Title: Mechanical Engineering Leader

Location: Luton

We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Leader to join us at Honeywell, in Luton, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom reporting to the Engineering Director this role is required to execute and accelerate NPI’s within the mechanical/metering engineering function whilst maintaining strict quality requirements. The ideal person will be practiced in the full development cycle of electro-mechanical products with a metering, sensor or general complex product background. This is a hybrid role, 3 + 2 days model.

Responsibilities

• Focus on the mechanical / metering function located in Luton however collaborating with the wider product development functions
• Manage the mechanical/metering function activities based on priorities and resource loading. Create product and work package specifications
• Work closely with lead mechanical engineer. Ensure work activities are defined, communicated and executed to the specification. Drive work package execution using project management tools
• Report progress, risks and mitigations. Forecast and subsequently manage 3rd party and labour costs. Provide engineering solutions (leadership and hands on). Provide guidance on best strategy for success i.e. CFD, prototype, soft tool, hard tool etc
• Ensure all development administrative tasks are executed. Drive continuous improvement. Collaborate with engineering and cross functional partners. Collaborate and manage 3rd party consultants and suppliers. Ensure all facilities are exploited working closely with test, measurement, materials and prototype capabilities

You Must Have

• Experience working in a fast-paced electro-mechanical R&D design and validation environment
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical products. Project leadership.
• Working dynamically with missing information. Confident in presentations and meetings. 3D & 2D CAD. Engineering material selection
• Design for manufacture & lowest cost. Concept selection. Value engineering. Root cause analysis
• Product approvals. Product validation. Engineering function admin (ECN, document management, enterprise software)

Good to have

• Knowledge of fluid metering principles (E.g. Volumetric, ultra-sonic, electromagnetic, inferential)
• Degree in mechanical subject. Injection moulded parts
• MID & potable water material approvals. Six Sigma methodology
