Job Description

Are you ready to shape the future of water infrastructure? We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Solutions team, with flexibility to be based in St Albans, Croydon, Basingstoke, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, or Plymouth.

You’ll contribute to delivering multi-billion-pound capital programmes across the UK water sector, working on projects from small rural sites to complex infrastructure schemes in water and wastewater, supporting frameworks extending through AMP8 and AMP9.

Key Programmes You’ll Support:

• Southern Water – £3.7 billion Capital Delivery Programme:
  • Supporting Tier 1 Contractors on Non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects
• South West Water – Engineering Consultancy Services Framework:
  • Multi-Discipline Engineering Design
• Wessex Water – Capital Delivery Partner Framework:
  • Design Consultants

Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions, engaging in projects from inception to delivery, enhancing communities and the environment.

Responsibilities:

• Feasibility studies, design, and construction support.
• Producing design drawings, mechanical plant specifications.
• Collaborating with water, civil, electrical, and process engineers nationwide.
• Designing mechanical installations like pumping stations, screens, valves, odour control systems, pipework.
• Site surveys and liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers.
• Producing plant layouts, specifications, datasheets, schedules, P&IDs.
• Pump system analysis and headloss calculations.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status (e.g., IMechE).
• Experience in delivering water/wastewater engineering designs and reports.
