We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our design team in Leeds as part of a multi‑disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water related projects in the UK. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times.

We’ll support you to continue to develop your technical expertise so that you can become a real difference maker and develop sustainable and innovative solutions to address these issues. You’ll join a growing team of Engineers working together towards the best client outcomes.

We are looking for individuals who can challenge conventional thinking and work collaboratively to meet a wide range of business, environment and regulatory challenges for these clients. The role offers an opportunity for successful candidates to broaden and diversify their expertise.

What does the role involve?
  • Contributing to feasibility studies, optioneering, outline design and detailed design for water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects.
  • Producing mechanical design deliverables including P&IDs, equipment sizing calculations, specifications, datasheets, schedules and technical reports under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Coordinating with engineers and specialists from other disciplines to develop compliant, buildable and operationally effective design solutions.
  • Participating in design reviews, constructability reviews, hazard studies and ALMs.
  • Supporting CDM compliance through the identification, assessment and management of design risks and the preparation of design risk assessments.
  • Attending site visits to undertake surveys, collect data and engage with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Liaising with suppliers to support equipment selection and the development of design solutions.
  • Ensuring design outputs are delivered in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget and quality requirements.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status with the IMechE.
  • Knowledge and experience of mechanical design for the water industry.
  • The ability to work with engineers from all disciplines and other industry professionals to optimise and develop bespoke and innovative designs.
  • Experience in the delivery of water designs and specifications on water related projects for Water Companies, Contractors and industry.
  • An appreciation of the implications of works on the environment and knowledge of sustainable solutions, water and wastewater processes and health and safety legislation.
