Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Dry Gas Seals Team, reporting to the Lead Engineer for Gas Seals. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will develop innovative solutions for customer-specific applications that extend beyond our standard dry gas seal product range. You will support Right First Time (RFT) activities by troubleshooting non-conforming seal designs through data analysis and examining the cosmetic appearance of Dry Gas Seals.

This role is based at our headquarters in Slough, working Monday to Friday during normal office hours.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and execute development programs for customer-driven Dry Gas Sealing applications, including planning, test specifications, design generation, qualification testing, and report generation.
• Provide technical guidance on design, performance, procurement, manufacturing, and testing of Dry Gas Sealing products for turbomachinery equipment.
• Create detailed technical presentations to support sales and training initiatives.
• Prepare correspondence and technical reports related to projects.
• Utilize CAD software to produce 3D models and assemblies for performance analysis, including finite element analysis.
• Support RFT activities by troubleshooting product performance issues or production difficulties.
• Conduct and monitor tests to compare actual results with theoretical analyses.
• Continuously update knowledge related to assigned projects.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing, ideally within rotating equipment.
• Strong skills in Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Creativity, vision, and problem-solving abilities.
• Hands-on work capability.
• Effective communication skills for team collaboration and stakeholder feedback.
• Self-management skills to ensure on-time project delivery.
