Barrie Knitwear in Hawick is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to maintain and repair industrial knitting machinery on site. You will work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and ensure smooth operation on a busy factory floor.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, a proactive problem-solving approach, and the ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team, with future shift work likely.

Responsibilities

• Support our Leicester site with machine set up/maintenance when required.

Who are we looking for?

We have a brilliant opportunity available for an enthusiastic person to become our new Mechanical Engineer. First and foremost, we are looking for people who have the desire and commitment to be successful. We are interested in people with experience completing maintenance tasks in the textiles industry working on a busy factory floor and workshop.

As a Mechanical Engineer at Barrie Knitwear, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining, repairing Shima Knitting machines. This is an opportunity to develop and grow your career as Barrie prides ourselves on hiring the best talent. The work will initially be on a day shift basis but shift work will be required in the future.
