Job summary

Quest Employment Ltd. is recruiting a Forklift Engineer – Northampton, NN4, for a permanent, full-time role with Monday to Friday hours (8:00am–4:30pm). Salary ranges from £28,000 to £38,000 per year, based on experience. Overtime is available and there are 22 days of holiday plus Bank Holidays.

Start is immediate. Applicants should have experience servicing and repairing forklift trucks and MHE, with strong fault-finding skills. This is a stable, long-term position with career growth potential.

Qualifications

• Experience as forklift engineer or MHE engineer preferred or desirable.
• Experience with diesel, LPG, electric, counterbalance, reach trucks or similar.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing forklift trucks and MHE.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Attending breakdowns and completing repairs efficiently.
• Identifying damaged or worn components and completing repairs.
• Ensuring equipment is safe, operational and ready for use.
• Completing service and maintenance records accurately.
• Reporting faults, damage and safety concerns.
• Working independently and with the engineering team.

Forklift Engineer – Northampton Quest Employment are recruiting for an experienced

to join a well-established operation based in Northampton, NN4.This is a permanent opportunity offering stable Monday-to-Friday hours, a salary of up to £38,000 depending on experience, overtime opportunities and long-term career stability.

The Role

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing forklift trucks and MHE
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections
• Attending breakdowns and completing repairs efficiently
• Identifying damaged or worn components and completing necessary repairs
• Ensuring equipment is safe, operational and ready for use
• Completing service and maintenance records accurately
• Reporting faults, damage and safety concerns
• Working independently and alongside the wider engineering team
• Following all company Health & Safety procedures

What We're Looking For

• Ideally, you will have previous experience as a: Forklift Engineer / Forklift Technician / FLT Engineer / MHE Engineer / Forklift Service Engineer
• Experience working with any combination of diesel, LPG, electric, counterbalance, reach trucks or other MHE would be highly desirable.

You should also have:

• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
• Experience servicing and repairing mechanical equipment
• Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
• Confidence diagnosing breakdowns
• A practical, hands‑on approach
• Ability to work independently
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A reliable and professional attitude
• A desire for a stable, long-term position

Candidates from plant engineering, agricultural machinery, HGV, automotive or similar mechanical backgrounds may also be considered where they have strong transferable servicing and fault-finding experience.
