Job summary

ASC Connections seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join a specialist engineering business delivering machinery engineering, service and repair solutions across the UK. The role blends hands‑on mechanical work with machinery inspection, fault diagnosis, design input and technical reporting in both workshop and customer sites.

You will lead inspections, diagnose faults, assess conditions and recommend repairs, while supporting installation, commissioning and ongoing support on varied projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• IEng status would be advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility for UK travel, occasional overnight stays and out-of-hours work when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical machinery inspections, servicing and repair programmes.
• Diagnose complex mechanical faults and carry out root‑cause investigations.
• Assess machinery condition and recommend appropriate repairs or engineering modifications.
• Support the design and modification of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Apply knowledge of machining, welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly techniques.
• Supervise workshop and customer‑site engineering activities.
• Support machinery installation, commissioning and condition‑monitoring programmes.
• Produce detailed technical reports covering findings, conclusions and engineering recommendations.
• Work closely with Mechanical Fitters and Technicians throughout repair and engineering projects.
• Communicate technical findings clearly with customers and other stakeholders.
• Travel to customer sites throughout the UK when required.
