Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) – Employee-Owned

Job summary

HDR is an employee-owned firm delivering building engineering solutions. In this Mechanical Engineer role you will join our Building Engineering Services Group, designing infrastructure for data centres and commercial spaces, shaping energy efficiency and human experience.

You will develop detailed designs from concept to completion, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and apply QA with ISO standards.

Qualifications

• BEng, MSc or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or relevant subject.
• Experience in mechanical design for commercial and infrastructure projects, minimum 3yrs’ industry experience.
• Design coordination with other stakeholders & disciplines.
• Experience of mechanical systems, HVAC engineering and resilience including cooling, ventilation, humidification, fuel oil and flue systems.
• Large scale chilled water and adiabatic cooling systems experience.
• Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software.
• Skills in project managing on-going jobs with limited supervision are desirable.
• Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Agree design duties with your Project Manager and Office Principal / Team Leaders.
• Carry out engineering concept design through to detailed design
• Liaise with the design team to co-ordinate detailed designs and agree manufacturers and samples.
• Maintain good client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
• Assist colleagues with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD requirements. Help develop working practices in the Company.
• Implement and manage tasks in accordance with QA systems and company procedures on all projects (our systems are certified to ISO9001 and ISO14001).
• Assist with CAD resource requirements.
