Job summary

Boden Group in Wiltshire is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to maintain critical mechanical building services in a busy hospital environment. You will handle planned maintenance, fault-finding and reactive repairs across boilers, pumps, heating, chilled water and ventilation systems, while recording work in the CAFM system.

Ideal candidates will have a recognised mechanical apprenticeship with a Level 3 qualification and experience in regulated settings such as healthcare.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification.
• Experience maintaining mechanical building services in healthcare or regulated environments.
• Fault-finding and repair across mechanical plant and systems.
• Knowledge of permits, risk assessments and mechanical isolation procedures.
• Experience using CAFM or maintenance management systems to record work.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and out-of-hours call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Complete planned maintenance, inspections, servicing, fault-finding and reactive repairs on mechanical building services.
• Maintain boilers, pumps, heating and chilled water systems, calorifiers and pressure systems.
• Maintain ventilation equipment, including air handling units, extract systems, fans and filters.
• Respond to plant failures, alarms, leaks and service interruptions, escalating risks where necessary.
• Record maintenance work, repairs and compliance evidence in the CAFM system.
• Follow permits, risk assessments and healthcare guidance and local safe systems of work.

Job description

As a Mechanical Engineer in Wiltshire, you’ll maintain critical mechanical building services in a busy acute hospital, helping keep essential services running for patients and clinical teams.

The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.

You’ll work across heating, chilled water and ventilation systems, responding to plant failures in a live healthcare environment.

The Role

• Complete planned maintenance, inspections, servicing, fault-finding and reactive repairs on mechanical building services.


• Maintain boilers, pumps, heating and chilled water systems, calorifiers and pressure systems.


• Maintain ventilation equipment, including air handling units, extract systems, fans and filters.

About You

• A recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent structured training, supported by a relevant Level 3 qualification.


• Experience maintaining mechanical building services in a commercial, industrial, healthcare or similarly regulated environment.


• Fault-finding and repair skills across a range of mechanical plant and systems.


• Knowledge of permits, risk assessments and mechanical isolation procedures.


• Confidence using CAFM or other maintenance management systems to keep accurate records.


• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and out-of-hours call-outs.
