Job summary

eTeam Workforce Limited is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Technician for a 6-month contract in Stafford. The role focuses on hands-on mechanical work across maintenance, repair, testing and calibration of mechanical equipment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy engineering environments such as defence, aerospace, automotive or GSE, and will be able to interpret drawings and technical documentation to ensure governance, safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, repair and fault-finding.
  • Hands-on testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and calibration.
  • Experience working down to component/module level.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with OEM data and technical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repair, testing and fault-finding.
  • Perform diagnostics and identify mechanical faults down to module/component level.
  • Carry out equipment repair, modification, refurbishment and calibration.
  • Conduct functional testing and inspection of mechanical equipment.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical documentation, OEM/ASI data and approved procedures.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with governance, safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate technical and maintenance records.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex mechanical equipment issues.
  • Work effectively within a controlled engineering/workshop environment.

Job Description

Location: Stafford
Contract: 6 months

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Technician to join a specialist engineering team based in Stafford on a 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on mechanical engineering role involving the maintenance, repair, testing, diagnostics, modification and calibration of mechanical equipment.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a heavy engineering, defence, aerospace, automotive, industrial or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repair, testing and fault-finding.
  • Perform diagnostics and identify mechanical faults down to module/component level.
  • Carry out equipment repair, modification, refurbishment and calibration.
  • Conduct functional testing and inspection of mechanical equipment.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical documentation, OEM/ASI data and approved procedures.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering governance, safety and quality standards.

Essential Skills & Experienc[e]
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, repair and fault-finding.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and calibration.
  • Experience working down to component/module level.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with OEM data and technical procedures.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience within heavy engineering, defence, aerospace, GSE, automotive or similar environments is highly desirable.
Qualifications
  • Level 3 or Level 4 Engineering qualification, or equivalent demonstrable engineering experience.
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship/advanced apprenticeship/higher apprenticeship, or equivalent.
  • Ideally eligible for Engineering Technician (EngTech) professional registration in accordance with UK-SPEC.
