Job summary

Bowmay Consulting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for an international client with a strong reputation. The role focuses on repairs, refurbishment, and rebuild projects, requiring hands-on experience with machine tools and heavy machinery.

You will read drawings, apply GD&T, and develop practical engineering solutions in an autonomous, process-driven environment. You will assess machines, generate technical reports, and support manufacturing to meet project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with machine tools or heavy industrial equipment/machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of fabrication welding and hard coatings welding.
  • Understanding Geometrical Design and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical problem solving to investigate issues and develop solutions.
  • Comfortable working in an autonomous role.

Responsibilities

  • Assess returned machines and components, identifying repair/refurbishment/replacement options.
  • Inspect pre-used components and produce technical reports for repair recommendations and rebuild projects.
  • Support manufacturing to ensure on-time, in-spec production per project requirements.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to deliver projects efficiently and to quality standards.
  • Provide technical support to the service team for quotations and technical inquiries.
  • Produce accurate engineering documentation, reports, and Bills of Materials.
  • Support FATs and inspections to ensure rebuilt equipment meets customer expectations.

About You


  • Hands on experience with machine tools or other heavy industrial equipment / machinery

  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering

  • Knowledge of fabrication welding and welding of hard coatings

  • You will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • You will have knowledge in Geometrical Design and Tolerancing

  • You’ll be a practical problem solver with the ability to investigate issues and develop effective engineering solutions

  • You will be comfortable within an autonomous role

  • You have technical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles


About the role


  • You’ll support the assessment of returned machines and components, identifying the most effective solutions for repair, refurbishment or replacement

  • You will inspect pre-used components and produce technical reports to support repair recommendations, cost estimates and rebuild projects

  • Supporting the manufacturing facility, you will ensure products are built on time and in line with project requirements.

  • Working collaboratively with Production and Quality teams, you'll help ensure projects are delivered on time, efficiently and to the required quality standards

  • You’ll provide technical support to the service team when needed, with regards to technical quotations

  • A key part of the role will involve producing accurate engineering documentation, technical reports, and Bills of Materials

  • You’ll support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and inspections, ensuring rebuilt equipment meets customer expectations.
