Job summary

ATA Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in Shepshed to join a heavy industrial operation. You will perform reactive and planned maintenance on heavy machinery, improve efficiency, and take ownership of the night shift (Sunday-Thursday, 22:00–7:00).

Candidates should have Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, experience with welding machinery (MIG/TIG/STICK) desirable, and prior exposure to heavy industry environments.

• Experience with welding machinery (MIG, TIG, STICK) – desirable.
• Experience in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the smooth running of the factory by performing reactive and planned maintenance.
• Working with bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Fault-finding on heavy industrial machinery and following LOTO procedures.

About the company:

Our client is a granulator of PVC, copper and steel and then sells on the commodities on to other companies. They have recently been acquired by a global business, who operate across Europe, Asia and UK.

Turning over around £54million across the UK, they have been going since 1947 and have 10 sites within the group. Processing between 1000 – 1300 tonnes per month, they are top 3 in the UK from a volume from a single site and are gaining more work.

About the role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be working on heavy industrial environment looking at improving the efficiency of the machine and joining at a time where you can take ownership of your role within the business.

Responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring the smooth running of the factory, by performing reactive and planned maintenance work.
• Working with bearings, gearboxes, conveyor systems, pneumatics and hydraulics
• Working with heavy industrial machinery and coming up with resolutions to mechanical issues.
• Fault-finding mechanically, as well as being comfortable with LOTO procedures and safe isolation electrically.

About you:

To be considered for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer position, you should have the following:

• Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with welding machinery (MIG, TIG, STICK) – desirable, not essential
• Experience working within a heavy environment – understanding the common problems that come within the heavy industry from a mechanical view.
