About Sunseeker International

Sunseeker was founded on a bold vision: to create a new kind of yacht and redefine what was possible on the water. From our earliest designs in 1967, we’ve pushed boundaries and reshaped the motor yacht industry through innovation, craftsmanship and relentless ambition.

At the heart of every Sunseeker lies a legacy of expert hands and meticulous attention to detail, skills refined and passed down through generations. These are the qualities that set our yachts apart - and the qualities that continue to drive our craft today.

In a world increasingly defined by automation, we remain committed to building hand‑crafted, hand‑finished boats. With over 1,800 talented team members across our busy shipyards - from long‑serving specialists to more than 180 apprentices - our Sunseeker workforce reflects the strength, diversity and pride of our local community. It’s this blend of heritage, skill and passion that makes our shipyards unlike any other place in the world.

Who We Are Seeking

At Sunseeker International, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our Site Services team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in ensuring vital plant, machinery and equipment operate safely and efficiently.

We are seeking someone with strong mechanical engineering expertise, excellent problem‑solving abilities, and a hands‑on approach to maintenance and continuous improvement. You will be a team player who can also work independently, building effective relationships across the business while helping to keep our world‑class yacht production on schedule.

A Day in the Life

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of Sunseeker's sites and manufacturing facilities. Your day may involve carrying out planned maintenance on production equipment, conducting statutory inspections, diagnosing mechanical faults, or supporting site improvement projects.

Working closely with the Facilities Manager, Site Services Manager and operational teams, you'll ensure machinery and mechanical systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational. You'll also contribute to site projects, technical documentation and improvement initiatives that support efficiency, safety and productivity across the business.

Example Responsibilities Include
  • Maintaining plant, machinery and equipment used within the yacht manufacturing process.
  • Carrying out statutory inspections and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications.
  • Conducting surveys and inspections of mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Producing technical documentation and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Supporting site improvement projects and maintenance activities across multiple departments.
  • Working collaboratively with production and support services teams to minimise downtime.
  • Assisting with repairs, installations and mechanical upgrades.
  • Ensuring compliance with PUWER, LOLER and company Health & Safety requirements.
  • Diagnosing faults and implementing effective engineering solutions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, efficiency and overall site performance.
To Be Considered for This Role You Should Have
  • A recognised mechanical engineering qualification, such as an HND, Degree, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance or mechanical engineering role.
  • Strong practical engineering and fault‑finding skills.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, boat building plans and engineering documentation.
  • A thorough understanding of safe working practices within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems.
  • The ability to work methodically, accurately and safely.
  • A flexible, self‑motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.

Experience within a boatbuilding, construction, manufacturing or facilities environment would be highly advantageous, as would familiarity with CAD software, PAT testing and marine‑related engineering operations.
