About Sunseeker International

Sunseeker was founded on a bold vision: to create a new kind of yacht and redefine what was possible on the water. From our earliest designs in 1967, we’ve pushed boundaries and reshaped the motor yacht industry through innovation, craftsmanship and relentless ambition.

At the heart of every Sunseeker lies a legacy of expert hands and meticulous attention to detail, skills refined and passed down through generations. These are the qualities that set our yachts apart - and the qualities that continue to drive our craft today.

In a world increasingly defined by automation, we remain committed to building hand‑crafted, hand‑finished boats. With over 1,800 talented team members across our busy shipyards - from long‑serving specialists to more than 180 apprentices - our Sunseeker workforce reflects the strength, diversity and pride of our local community. It’s this blend of heritage, skill and passion that makes our shipyards unlike any other place in the world.

Who We Are Seeking

We are seeking skilled and hands-on Engineers with a passion for mechanical systems, quality workmanship, and problem-solving. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality installations that contribute to the production of world-class luxury yachts.

The successful candidate will have experience installing and testing complex mechanical systems, ideally within the marine, automotive, or engineering sectors. They will be comfortable working as part of a collaborative team while maintaining ownership of their work, ensuring all installations are completed safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.

A Day in the Life

As an Engineer, you will play a key role in preparing engine rooms and installing engines and associated systems throughout the yacht build process. Working alongside a skilled production team, you will be responsible for fitting, testing, and commissioning a range of mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure vessels meet exacting performance and quality standards.

Your day may involve installing through-hull fittings, aligning engine shafts and gearboxes, fitting fuel and cooling systems, or troubleshooting installation challenges. You'll work closely with colleagues, suppliers, and other departments to keep projects on schedule while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Example Responsibilities Include
  • Preparing engine rooms for engine and equipment installation.
  • Installing engines and associated mechanical equipment within yachts.
  • Fitting and testing fuel systems.
  • Installing and testing hydraulic systems.
  • Fitting domestic water systems, including water makers.
  • Installing mechanical engine control systems and basic engine electrical control systems.
  • Installing and testing raw water cooling systems.
  • Aligning engine shafts and gearboxes to required specifications.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with IPC, quality, and health and safety standards.
  • Working collaboratively with team members to maintain build schedules and production targets.
  • Contributing ideas and suggestions to improve working practices and processes.
To Be Considered for This Role You Should Have
  • A minimum of 3 years' engineering installation experience, ideally within the marine industry.
  • Alternatively, a vehicle mechanic or similar engineering background with transferable skills.
  • A good standard of education, with a City & Guilds Engineering qualification (Part 2) or equivalent motor vehicle qualification preferred.
  • Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, cooling, or engine control systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • The ability to read, understand and follow engineering processes and quality standards.
  • A strong awareness of health and safety requirements within a production environment.
  • The ability to work effectively in confined engine room spaces and carry out manual handling activities safely.
  • Your own basic engineering toolkit, including spanners and socket sets.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, alongside a proactive and accountable approach to your work
