Job summary

HVAC Total FM Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in Birmingham. The role focuses on maintaining mechanical building services across a portfolio, handling PPM, reactive maintenance, servicing and fault-finding on heating systems, pumps, pipework and boilers.

The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, strong fault-finding skills, and a full UK driving licence. Excellent communication and customer service are essential for liaising with tenants and site teams.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent mechanical qualification.
  • Previous mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Commercial or domestic building maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with heating systems, pumps and pipework.
  • Good understanding of planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for keeping mechanical building services operating safely and efficiently across a portfolio of properties.

The role will involve a combination of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, servicing, fault finding and repairs.

You'll manage your workload through a CAFM or mobile job management system and work closely with customers, tenants and the wider facilities team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

  • Respond to reactive maintenance and breakdowns

  • Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs

  • Maintain commercial and domestic heating systems

  • Service and repair pumps, valves and associated equipment

  • Carry out maintenance on pipework and plumbing systems

  • Work on boilers and heating plant

  • Complete mechanical remedial works

  • Carry out root cause analysis on recurring faults

  • Support installation and commissioning works

  • Complete maintenance records using CAFM systems

  • Ensure work complies with Health & Safety requirements

What We're Looking For
