Job description

Mechanical Engineer

We’re supporting the growth of a specialist engineering team developing high-performance technology used in extreme operating environments. This is a newly created role, designed to strengthen materials capability within a multidisciplinary engineering team working on highly regulated, safety-critical products.

You’ll provide hands‑on and theoretical expertise across materials used in demanding thermal, mechanical and corrosive conditions. This role requires someone who understands both the make‑up of materials and the practical implications of manufacturing processes.

Permanent

Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday, 8:00am – 1:00pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Support material selection for high temperature and harsh environment applications
  • Advise engineers on material properties, performance and limitations
  • Assess the effects of manufacturing processes
  • Ensure material properties are maintained through production processes
  • Support design‑for‑manufacture activities and production readiness
  • Evaluate physical property testing methods and interpret results
  • Work alongside design and manufacturing engineers to preserve material strength
  • Support root cause investigations relating to material performance
  • Contribute to new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
