Job summary

Pertemps Black Country Perms in Dudley is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to service heavy industrial presses and production machinery. You will join a two-person maintenance team to keep plant running safely and efficiently.

The role offers a 40-hour week on rotating shifts with overtime at enhanced rates, 33 days holiday, and a group pension. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Maintenance is required, with a time-served apprenticeship preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on maintenance experience in heavy industrial settings.
• Ability to fault-find mechanical issues on presses and processing machinery.
• Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs.
• Mechanical fault-finding on heavy industrial presses and steel processing machinery.
• Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems; replace bearings, seals and belts.
• Dismantling, repairing and reassembling machinery; welding and fabrication as needed.
• Fault diagnosis on gearboxes, drives and material-handling equipment.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Dudley | £36,000 per annum + Overtime

Permanent | Full-Time | Weekly Paid

Join an established steel processing company in Dudley, maintaining heavy industrial presses and production machinery.

The Role

Working alongside an Electrician in a two-person engineering team, you’ll carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs
• Mechanical fault-finding on heavy industrial presses and steel processing machinery
• Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Replacing bearings, seals, chains, belts, gears and mechanical components
• Dismantling, repairing and reassembling machinery
• Welding, fabrication, bench fitting and oxy/acetylene cutting
• Fault diagnosis on gearboxes, drives and material-handling equipment
• Operating overhead cranes, forklifts and cherry pickers where required
• Completing maintenance reports and following safe working practices

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Maintenance
• Time-served apprenticeship preferred
• Heavy industrial maintenance experience
• Industrial press or steel processing experience advantageous
• Slitting/decoiling machinery experience beneficial

Shift Pattern

40 hours per week | 3-week rotating shift

• Week 1 – Days: Monday–Friday, 6am–2pm
• Week 2 – Nights: Monday–Thursday, 8pm–6am
• Additional £1/hour antisocial allowance
• Week 3 – Afternoons: Monday–Thursday, 2pm–12am

Pay Rates

• Basic: £16.08/hour
• Weekday overtime: £20.01/hour
• Saturday overtime: £24.12/hour
• Sunday / Bank Holiday overtime: £32.16/hour
