We deliver performance and product efficiency for customers in power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors. Our offices are strategically positioned to provide global access to our expertise while maintaining a local focus in everything we do. We are a leading supplier of auxiliary equipment for major gas turbine OEMs and a trusted provider of aftermarket products and services for gas turbine operators worldwide.

Role, Team and Location

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our office in Cramlington, UK. In this role, you will take responsibility for the mechanical engineering scope within retrofit and upgrade projects for gas turbine ancillary equipment. You will translate customer and site requirements into safe, practical and manufacturable engineering solutions, combining hands‑on engineering with technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with Project Management, Operations, Sales, Bid Leaders, site teams and engineering colleagues across our different Business Units. You will also interact directly with customers, fabricators and other external partners. With projects involving existing installations and complex site conditions, this is a role where engineering goes beyond the drawing board and where your solutions have a direct impact on successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer within Plant Upgrade Solutions, you develop mechanical solutions for the retrofit, modification and upgrade of existing gas turbine ancillary equipment. You will work from customer requirements, site conditions and 3D laser scan data to develop integrated designs, layouts and installation solutions that are safe, practical and fit for purpose. A key part of your role is connecting engineering with what happens on site. You will support equipment condition assessments, develop dismantling and installation methodologies and coordinate mechanical interfaces across different Business Units and existing equipment. Working closely with project and site teams, you help resolve technical challenges and ensure designs can be manufactured, transported and installed effectively.

You will also contribute to FEED studies, technical documentation, safety reviews and customer discussions, while ensuring compliance with applicable safety requirements, CDM regulations and Braden quality standards. Alongside project execution, you provide technical input during the proposal phase and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

What You Bring
Experience & Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, with HNC as a minimum;
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience within greenfield and brownfield technical or project-driven environments;
  • Experience delivering retrofit, upgrade or other turnkey engineering projects;
  • Experience developing equipment dismantling and installation methodologies;
  • Practical understanding of site execution, temporary works and lifting requirements, including crane and lifting studies for restricted site environments;
  • Experience coordinating different engineering disciplines and site teams within complex project environments;
  • Experience with fabrication inspections and FAT testing is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with a practical and solution‑oriented approach;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor and 3D modelling;
  • Strong understanding of CDM requirements and site safety compliance;
  • Experience with FEED studies and integration across multiple engineering disciplines or Business Units;
  • Ability to translate site and customer requirements into safe, manufacturable and executable solutions;
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the confidence to advise colleagues and external stakeholders on technical matters;
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment and manage multiple technical interfaces;
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken;
  • Willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required.
What You Will Get

At Braden, you will take on a key role in delivering complex, international projects within a technically driven environment. You will have ownership, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on project success and customer satisfaction.

  • A full-time position within an international and growing organisation.
  • A competitive salary, aligned with your experience and level.
  • A dynamic and technically challenging work environment with diverse, international projects.
